Relatives Say Iowa Family Has Disappeared in Mexico Newburgh Gazette

Kevin Wayne and Amy Marie Sharp, 12-year-old son Sterling and 7-year-old daughter Adrianna, from Iowa in the United States, were on their second holiday in Mexico.

When the family didn't arrive in St. Louis, family members contacted authorities, she said.

Creston police confirmed the family died in their vacation condominium in Akumal, Mexico, near Tulum.

Local Mexican authorities have taken over the investigation, according to the State Department.

"The Sharps have been located". They are mourning the loss of four family members and would like to be able to do that in peace. On Friday afternoon, Peterson posted an update.

"We watched the flights leave Cancun and land in St. Louis". The family had planned to then drive about 200 miles to Danville, Ill., to watch a basketball game Thursday, Hoyt said.

"To my knowledge, they went to sleep and never woke up", she said. The family was last heard from that night, after they reported they had made it safely to their condo.

"We are extremely anxious and hope they are found soon or can contact their family".

"Get on social media and (share) #TulumMexico, get it out there", Hoyt said.

The family's cause of death wasn't immediately known, but the Creston Police Department is now awaiting autopsy results.

    "The Sharps have been located".

An Iowa family was found dead in a condo near Tulum, Mexico. According to Creston PD Chief Paul Ver Meer, there were no signs of trauma or foul play. "Out of respect for the family during this hard time, we have no further comment". She also thanked everyone for the kind words at this time.

Jana Weland, a relative, told CNN the family arrived in Tulum on March 15.

The Sharps were supposed to return from their vacation on Wednesday, Weland said.

"We want to fight back against oblivion, against the normalization of violence, so that we aren't asking each month who will be next", said Jan Jarab, Mexico representative for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. What had family and loved ones concerned was what may have happened after their arrival.
